Our Challenge Coin
The official challenge coin of JD’s House of Trophies, a Sioux Falls recognition and branding partner serving the region since 1972 and veteran owned and operated.

A challenge coin is earned, not bought. In the military it is passed hand to hand to recognize someone who did the job right and to mark that they belong to something bigger than themselves. Recognition has been our work for more than 50 years, so this coin felt like a natural fit for us.
The design. The front carries our trophy cup. Look at the base and you will see it forms a house with a lit window, the house in House of Trophies. It stands for our business and for the idea that every award we make leaves our home and goes into someone else’s. The coin is finished in blue and gold with a diamond cut edge, and the words Veteran Owned and Operated run along the bottom. The back lists what we do, where to find us, and how to reach us, because a coin that gets passed along should always lead back home.
Our history. JD’s House of Trophies opened in Sioux Falls in 1972. For five decades, families, schools, businesses, and organizations across the region have come to us when they needed to mark a moment that mattered. Championships, retirements, service anniversaries, and milestones have all passed through our doors.
Our owner. Nick Blumer took ownership in 2022. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1998 to 2002 and then in the South Dakota Air National Guard from 2006 to 2022 in Munitions Systems, retiring as a Master Sergeant after three overseas deployments. Nick brought 20 years of service and the same standards of precision and accountability to JD’s. JD’s is a Certified Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business.
What we do. We help businesses, schools, teams, and organizations recognize their people. That includes employee recognition and service awards, new employee kits, branded promotional products and apparel, and awards for schools and sports. Everything is designed, engraved, and finished by our team in Sioux Falls, and we ship nationwide.
Why people trust us. Our Production Director, Teisha Upward, is the only Certified Recognition Specialist in South Dakota. JD’s House of Trophies was named 2022 to 2023 Small Retail Business of the Year in the awards and personalization industry. We also give back through partners like Folds of Honor, The Marine Corps League, Warriors Never Give Up, Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans Community Project.
Custom challenge coins. We give this coin to customers, partners, and people who have earned our thanks. If you received one, it means you mattered to us. If you would like a coin for your own unit, department, company, or event, tell us what it needs to mean, and we will help you design it.
